Such a FANTASTIC statement from the YoungMinds charity was released this week, regarding their Missing The Mark campaign:

"Sadly, we didn't see the same ambition in the Curriculum and Assessment Review published this week.

The Government have announced it will introduce the Review’s recommendation to reduce GCSE exams by three hours.

This is something we've been calling for. Right now, GCSE students sit an average of 31.5 hours of exams in a month — more than any other comparable education system. But reducing exam time alone is not enough.

We were hoping this would include the introduction of mixed assessments — things like presentations and project work, tailored for each subject, giving young people different opportunities to shine and leave school ready for further education and work."

And I couldn’t agree more... Our children and young people deserve an education system that prioritises wellbeing as much as academic achievement. Reducing exams is a start, but we need real change that puts mental health at the heart of learning. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK YOUNGMINDS!
